1 — Welcome
Ledger® Live: Login overview
Welcome to your quick start guide. This slide introduces Ledger® Live and what you'll accomplish: secure device login, initial setup, and connecting accounts. Read through each slide for focused steps and tips.
Estimated time: 10 minutes
2 — Before you begin
Requirements
You'll need a Ledger hardware device (Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, or similar), the latest Ledger® Live app installed on your computer or mobile, a stable internet connection, and your recovery phrase stored securely offline.
Security note: Never enter your recovery phrase into software or web pages.
3 — Install Ledger® Live
Steps
Download Ledger® Live from the official site, run the installer, and follow on-screen instructions. Grant permissions if prompted. When launching for the first time, create or restore a wallet following the app's secure flow.
4 — Connect your Ledger device
USB / Bluetooth pairing
Use the supplied USB cable or Bluetooth (Nano X). Unlock the device with your PIN, and use the Ledger Live app to detect and pair the device. Confirm any prompts on the device itself to allow connections.
5 — Login flow
Authenticate securely
Ledger Live does not store your private keys — they remain on the hardware. Login requires your device and PIN. If you've created a password for the app, keep it strong and unique; enable OS-level security for extra protection.
6 — Add cryptocurrency accounts
Supported assets
Ledger Live supports many cryptocurrencies. Use the Manager to install specific apps (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) on your device, then add accounts in Ledger Live to begin viewing balances and making transactions.
7 — Send and receive
Best practices
Always verify addresses on the device screen before confirming. When sending: enter the recipient, set fees consciously, and confirm the transaction on the Ledger device. When receiving: use the address shown in Ledger Live and confirm it on the device.
8 — Backup & recovery
Recovery phrase
Record your 12‑/24‑word recovery phrase during setup and store it offline in a secure place. Consider splitting copies or using a fireproof backup. Ledger support will never ask for this phrase—treat it as absolute private information.
9 — Troubleshooting
Common issues
If Ledger Live can't detect your device: try another USB cable/port, update firmware, or reinstall Ledger Live. If accounts show zero balance unexpectedly, ensure the device apps are installed and that you selected the correct derivation path.
